According to Goal.com, Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham on transfer deadline day earlier this month, but saw their £25m bid rejected.
Spurs surprisingly failed to make a single signing in the summer transfer window, despite being linked with a number of attackers since the end of last season.
It is understood that head coach Mauricio Pochettino wanted to bring in a back-up to Harry Kane due to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen.
According to Goal.com, Tottenham actually made a bid for Chelsea’s Abraham – a loan target for Aston Villa – earlier this month, but were told that the Blues were not prepared to sell to a Premier League rival.

The Spurs fans have been offering their views on the speculation on social media, and it would be fair to say that the majority are quite pleased that their club did not sign the two-time England international, who signed a new £50,000-a-week contract at Chelsea last year.
