Aaron Ramsey has become frustrated with contract negotiations with Arsenal and could be sold in January, according to Football.London.
What’s the word?
The lengthy contract standoff between Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal is showing no signs of reaching a conclusion, as the two parties are yet to come close to an agreement – which raises the possibility of an exit in January.
Football.London journalist Charles Watts says Arsenal will offload the Wales international in the New Year if they fail to agree terms with the 27-year-old, in circumstances that would be identical to Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United earlier this year.
Crucially, Ramsey is frustrated with how his demands are being perceived by fans as many believe he wants similar terms to the lucrative deal that Mesut Ozil signed a few months ago – despite his agent denying that is the case on social media.
The former Cardiff City man holds all the cards in negotiations and it could end up being a very messy situation for Arsenal.
What was said?
“The general consensus in the fanbase is that Ramsey is holding Arsenal to ransom and citing Mesut Ozil’s contract as a reason why he should be getting more than double his current £110,000 a week wage.
“But Ramsey’s agent has already said on social media that isn’t the case and my understanding is there is growing frustration within the Welshman’s camp as to how he is being portrayed.
“If a deal hasn’t been agreed in January Arsenal could well move him on – as they did with Alexis last season.”
What should Arsenal do?
The longer the saga drags on, the more damage this could do to Arsenal and Unai Emery’s side are walking a very fine line in the discussions and cannot afford to make the wrong call – which at this stage would be allowing Ramsey to leave in January.

Losing the Wales international would send a huge indication of where Arsenal stand with their star players, showing that they are not prepared to offer the big bucks that their rivals will and therefore suggesting that the era of losing key players to Premier League rivals is not over.
Alexis Sanchez’s departure to Manchester United was frustrating for Arsenal, although it worked in their favour somewhat with the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return, but it would be extremely unlikely that the Gunners could secure an equally impressive deal.
Ramsey has the potential to be a club legend at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal should look to conclude negotiations on a new deal as soon as possible.
