Leeds’ Amazon Prime documentary on the 2018/19 season was absolutely brilliant.
We got a great insight into the workings of the club, it was well made, and it retold the story of one of the most interesting seasons in English football history.
Bielsa’s arrival, spygate, Dan James’ deal falling through and bottling promotion made for captivating viewing, and by the end of it we were left wanting more.
Unfortunately, it seems as though season 2 isn’t coming after Phil Hay revealed the club’s stance on a second series.
What’s been said then?
The journalist was hosting the latest edition of The Phil Hay Show, and one fan sent in a question about whether or not there will be another series of the show.

“My gut feeling is probably not,” Hay said (The Phil Hay Show 20/2/20 29:40)
“They were very much on the scene with cameras at the start of the season, but I’ve seen less and less of the guys who filmed the first series from around October or November.
“The feeling at the club is that this might end up being a documentary that isn’t actually that interesting.
“I know we’re about to have the Casilla FA case, which is not going to be very flattering, and when it comes to rubbernecking and car crash viewing it ticks that box to some degree.
“There’s just this sense of it could be quite boring, you know, they’re winning game after game, they’re losing some games, but ultimately that’s football, and that’s how a season ebbs and flows.
“Yes you might well get that big celebration at the end of it if Leeds go up but that’ll be episode 6, and what’s gonna be in episode 1,2,3,4 and 5 that isn’t just going to replicate the first season?”
Shame
It’s sad to hear that the show may not be returning for a second series.
To be fair, the view that it could be a little boring does make sense, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t all flock to watch it.
It’d be tough to recapture the magic of the first season with Bielsa being there for over a year now, and there haven’t been any huge controversies such as Spygate and Dan James, that’s aside from the whole Kiko Casilla saga. However, with the promotion race ebbing and flowing it’d still be a good watch – especially if Leeds do go up.
It would also have been fascinating to see how the club conducted their business last summer, particularly after Leeds had to travel to Arsenal for a Dragons’ Den Style presentation to land Eddie Nketiah. Jean-Kevin Augustin’s loan and their failed pursuit of Che Adams would also have made for interesting viewing.
Fingers crossed the show returns if United do make the Premier League.
In other news, Phil Hay has revealed Leeds’ stance on Andrea Radrizzani’s online behaviour.
